Questions

Is Matey free?

Yes. The Free plan includes 5 groups you create and 1 public wishlist to share, with unlimited private wishlists, expenses, friends and wishes — including wishes filled in from shop links. Groups you’re invited to don’t count.

How do I pay for Bro?

Sign in, tap Get Bro and pick monthly or yearly. Our reseller Paddle handles the payment, tax and receipt — Matey never sees your card.

How do I cancel or get a refund?

Open Settings → Bro to manage your subscription and cancel anytime — Bro stays until the end of the paid period. Changed your mind? You get a full refund within 14 days of your first payment.

Do my friends need an account?

No. Add a friend by name and split expenses right away. Later they can open an invite link, sign in and take their place in the group with all their expenses.

Can we spend in different currencies?

Yes. Each group has its own currency, and you can add an expense in any of 155 currencies. Matey converts it at the exchange rate of the expense date and keeps both amounts.

Will my friend know I booked their gift?

No. The owner of a wishlist sees that a gift is booked, but nobody — not the owner, not other friends — sees who booked it.

Do I need to install anything?

No. Matey works in your phone’s browser. Add it to your home screen, and it opens like an app. There’s also a native iPhone app in the App Store.

What happens to my data?

Matey keeps only what it needs to work. No ads, no selling your data, no tracking across other apps or websites. Details are in the privacy policy. Read the privacy policy
